Tenerife is a is mountainous island, situated in the Canaries in North Atlantic Ocean very close to the west coast of Morocco and the Sahara desert. One of the must do activity in Tenerife is to take a drive into Mount Teide and the National Park where the mountain has the highest peak in Spain. A truly awe-inspiring sight is Los Gigantes, or The Giants, which are huge sheer black cliffs on the west coast of Tenerife. Families visiting Tenerife may prefer to stay in one of the many quieter but equally entertaining resorts such as Los Cristianos. This area offers a pleasant mixture of traditional Spanish restaurants. Tenerife is also home to some beautiful churches & cathedrals such as the Basílica Nuestra In general the the weather & the climate on Tenerife is mild and temperate all year round. There are no severe cold spells or oppressive heat waves. The average temperature is between 18C and 26C. North part of Tenerife is more humid & has more rain, wherefore it prides itself of rich, green vegetation. The South has many more sunny hours and it is much drier wherefore nature is scanty and desert-like. The West of Tenerife, between Los Cristianos & Playa Santiago, of the air never rises above 30C in the shade.
